Public Education

Collaborative Divorce Solutions (CDS) of Orange County is incorporated as a non-profit organization to educate you about peaceful alternatives to divorce litigation. CDS educates through print and electronic media, a speaker’s bureau, presentations, and and monthly meetings.

The Media: CDS professionals and couples who have divorced collaboratively, have been featured on Los Angeles and Orange County radio stations as well as in the local press. Radio programs include “Talk of the City” and “Air Talk” on KPPC-FM, the most listened to radio station for news and public affairs programming in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Also, since August, 2006, interviews were aired on KTWV-FM, KDIS-AM, KZLA-AM, KSBR-FM, KSPN-AM, and KRTH-FM.

On February 28, 2007, the Orange County Register featured “Agreeable Disagreeable”, as the lead story in their Life Section, by Reporter, Theresa Walker, which was dedicated to the collaborative divorce process in Orange County.

On April 14, 2005, O. C. Metro (P. 34) featured an online exchange with CDS founding President, Leslee Newman.

The Speaker’s Bureau: CDS has a power point presentation which can be presented to your group or organization by a team of CDS professionals. The Speaker’s Bureau has prepared talks for the Orange County Legal Secretaries, Orange County social workers, the Orange County Psychological Association, the Family Law Section of the Orange County Bar Association, financial professionals and religious groups. The Speaker’s Bureau will create a free program especially for your group.

Monthly Meetings and Presentations: Every second Tuesday of the month, CDS has a monthly educational meeting for its professionals and interested persons. Recent programs have featured the high conflict personality, protocols for keeping the collaborative process moving, mediation techniques in collaborative divorce, and how domestic violence issues can be treated out of court.

Any couples or interested persons who would like to learn more about divorce alternatives can schedule a presentation before the monthly meeting.
